Common Questions

Solana Token Creator FAQ

Everything you need to know about creating, launching, and managing SPL tokens on Solana - answered in full.

Getting Started

How fast can I create a Solana token?

Most creators complete the process in under two minutes. Connect your Solana wallet, fill in the token details (name, symbol, supply, decimals, logo), confirm the transaction in your wallet app, and your SPL token is live on the Solana blockchain immediately - no waiting, no approvals.

Do I need coding skills to create a Solana token?

None at all. Our Solana token creator is a fully no-code tool. Fill in a simple form, upload your logo, choose your options, and click deploy. The technical work - SPL token program invocation, Metaplex metadata accounts, decentralised storage uploads - is handled entirely by the platform.

What information do I need before I start?

You need: a token name, a symbol/ticker (2–10 characters), a total supply amount, a decimal count (6 or 9 is standard), and optionally a logo image (PNG or JPEG, under 1 MB). Social links (website, Twitter, Telegram) and creator info are optional extras that cost +0.1 SOL but add credibility and on-chain transparency.

Which wallets are supported?

All major Solana wallets are supported - Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Glow, Coinbase Wallet, OKX Wallet, and any wallet that implements the Solana Wallet Adapter standard. You can connect from desktop browser extensions or mobile wallet apps. Simply visit the site, click Connect Wallet, and approve in your wallet - no extra software needed.

What is an SPL token?

SPL (Solana Program Library) tokens are the standard fungible token format on the Solana blockchain - equivalent to ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. Every token created through our tool is a fully compliant SPL token, readable by Solana explorers (Solscan, Solana Explorer), tradeable on DEXes (Raydium, Orca, Jupiter), and compatible with all Solana wallets.

Pricing & Fees

How much does it cost to create a Solana token?

The base fee is 0.1 SOL, which covers the token mint, on-chain Metaplex metadata (name, symbol, supply, decimals, description, logo), and decentralised logo storage. Optional add-ons - creator info, social links, and each authority revocation - are each +0.1 SOL. A small Solana network gas fee (~0.000005 SOL) applies to every transaction. See our full pricing page for an interactive cost calculator.

Are there any hidden fees or subscriptions?

No. This is a pay-as-you-go platform. You pay the base fee once, plus any add-ons you select. There are no monthly subscriptions, renewal fees, or platform surcharges. The only ongoing cost would be optional add-ons you decide to purchase separately.

How much SOL should I have in my wallet before starting?

We recommend having at least 0.15 SOL in your wallet before starting - 0.1 SOL covers the base fee and the remainder provides a buffer for Solana network gas fees. If you plan to add extras (social links, creator info, authority revocations), add 0.1 SOL per option selected.

Why is creating a token on Solana cheaper than Ethereum?

Solana's proof-of-history consensus and parallel processing architecture means transaction costs are a fraction of Ethereum's. Ethereum token creation using ERC-20 contracts can cost £30–£150+ in gas alone. On Solana, the entire process - mint creation, metadata deployment, and storage - costs 0.1 SOL (a few dollars). This makes Solana the preferred chain for creators on any budget.

Token Authorities & Security

What is mint authority and should I revoke it?

Mint authority is the cryptographic permission to create (mint) additional tokens after launch. The address that holds mint authority can inflate the supply at any time. Revoking mint authority permanently and irreversibly locks the total supply - no more tokens can ever be minted. This is a strong trust signal for investors and is standard practice for memecoins and fixed-supply community tokens. Revoking costs +0.1 SOL.

What is freeze authority on a Solana token?

Freeze authority allows the token issuer to freeze individual token accounts, preventing those holders from transferring or trading their tokens. Revoking freeze authority means no account can ever be frozen - giving holders full confidence that their tokens cannot be restricted. Most community and memecoin projects revoke this to signal maximum decentralisation. Revoking is free (included in the base deployment) but is irreversible.

What is update authority and should I revoke it?

Update authority is the permission to change the token's on-chain Metaplex metadata - including name, symbol, logo, and description - after launch. Revoking update authority locks all metadata permanently and makes it immutable. If you want your branding to be tamper-proof and trustless, revoking is a good choice - but verify all your details are perfect first, as this action cannot be undone. Revoking costs +0.1 SOL.

Is my wallet seed phrase ever shared with the platform?

Never. Your seed phrase and private keys never leave your device. Our platform requests only a signed transaction from your wallet - the same standard used by every major Solana app. We cannot access your funds, move tokens, or take any action without your explicit approval in your own wallet application.

Do I keep full ownership of the token after it is created?

Yes. All minted tokens are sent directly to your connected wallet address. The mint address is owned by your wallet. We have no custodial access whatsoever. You decide which authorities to keep or revoke, and only your wallet's private key can sign future transactions related to this token.

After Launch

Can I list my Solana token on a DEX after creating it?

Yes. Once your SPL token is live on-chain, you can create a liquidity pool on Raydium, Orca, or Meteora and list it on Jupiter Aggregator for instant discoverability. Token creation is step one; you will need to add paired liquidity (typically SOL + your token) through those DEX platforms separately. Our launch guide covers the full process.

How do I get my token listed on Solscan or Solana Explorer?

Your token's mint address is immediately discoverable on Solscan and Solana Explorer the moment it is minted - no submission required. If you included on-chain metadata (name, symbol, logo via Metaplex), it will appear automatically. For verified labels and additional detail, you can submit metadata to Solscan's token list via their official process.

How do I get my token to appear on DexScreener or Birdeye?

DEX tracking platforms like DexScreener and Birdeye automatically detect tokens once a liquidity pool is created and the first trade occurs. Before that point, you can submit token metadata directly through Birdeye's token listing form, or ensure your on-chain Metaplex metadata is complete (name, symbol, logo, social links) - which our token creator handles during deployment.

Can I add more tokens later (mint more supply)?

Only if you kept mint authority. If you retained mint authority after creation, you can use Solana CLI or SPL token tools to mint additional tokens to any wallet. If you revoked mint authority during creation, the supply is permanently fixed - no additional tokens can ever be created.

Can I create a Solana memecoin?

Yes. Our token creator is fully suitable for memecoins. Set any name, symbol, and supply you like, upload a fun logo, add your Telegram and Twitter links for on-chain social proof, and your memecoin is live on Solana in minutes. Read our Solana memecoin creator guide for tokenomics tips and marketing strategies.

Can I burn (destroy) tokens after creation?

Yes. Token burning is a standard SPL token operation - you can burn tokens from your own wallet at any time using Solana CLI, Solana wallet apps (some support it natively), or third-party tools. Burning permanently removes tokens from circulation, which can reduce supply and signal commitment to holders. See our token burning guide for full instructions.

Technical Details

What is the Token-2022 program and do you support it?

Token-2022 (also called Token Extensions Program) is Solana's next-generation token standard, adding features like transfer fees, interest-bearing tokens, confidential transfers, and permanent delegate. Our creator currently uses the classic SPL Token Program, which offers the widest compatibility across all Solana wallets and DEXes. Token-2022 support is planned for a future update. Read our Token-2022 explainer to understand the differences.

What are token decimals and what should I set them to?

Decimals determine the smallest divisible unit of your token. Setting 6 decimals means 1 token = 1,000,000 base units. Setting 9 matches SOL's own decimal precision. For memecoins and community tokens, 6 or 9 are both standard choices. Setting 0 decimals creates a non-divisible token (useful for governance tokens or NFT-like assets where fractions don't make sense). See our decimals and supply guide for a full breakdown.

Where is my token logo stored?

Your token logo is uploaded to decentralised storage during the creation process and its URI is permanently written into the Metaplex on-chain metadata account. This means the logo is not stored on our servers - it lives on decentralised infrastructure and can be read by any Solana app or explorer directly from the blockchain.

What is Metaplex metadata and why does it matter?

Metaplex is the on-chain metadata standard for Solana tokens. When our platform creates your token, it deploys a Metaplex metadata account alongside the SPL mint - this account stores your token's name, symbol, logo URI, description, and social links directly on-chain. Without Metaplex metadata, your token shows only a raw mint address in wallets and explorers. With it, wallets display your name, logo, and details automatically.

What happens if the token creation transaction fails?

If the transaction fails before your token is minted (for example, due to a network error, wallet rejection, or insufficient balance), the service fee is not charged - only a tiny Solana network gas fee (~0.000005 SOL) may be consumed. You can retry the process at no extra cost. If you experience persistent issues, contact our support team via the contact page.

What RPC endpoint does the platform use?

We use a professional-grade Solana RPC provider (Helius or QuickNode depending on region) to ensure fast, reliable transaction submission and confirmation. Public RPC endpoints are rate-limited and often unreliable for token creation - our dedicated RPC ensures your transaction is broadcast and confirmed quickly. See our Helius vs QuickNode comparison for more detail.
